Frequently asked questions
How many road accidents involve the influence of alcohol?
At least one in six Swiss traffic fatalities are caused by a drunk driver. A person’s vision, ability to concentrate, reaction skills and coordination are all impaired at a BAC (blood alcohol content) as low as 0.03%. Alcohol causes the individual to become more willing to take risks while aggravating the negative effects of fatigue, stress, time pressure and annoyance. The risk of accidents increases demonstrably starting at a BAC of 0.05%; at 0.08% it has already increased by a factor of four, on average. You can find more information here.
